Scanning
Scanning is the process of using a scanner to create a copy of the original artwork or text. Due to the lack of digital photography or working files, some projects need scanners to preserve certain images or pictures they wish to incorporate into their web page.

Server (web) 
A server is a computer with network capabilities allowing users to connect via the internet. Commonly called a web server or web hosting, servers are needed for websites to be viewable on the World Wide Web.

Site Feed (internet)
Site Feeds also called RSS (Really Simple Syndicate) are used to share website content with other websites. News and Media outlets are known to capture great stories from internet syndicates and they're a great means of exposure. RSS are read from XML and most browsers support the technology by offering easy to read versions.

Sitemap
A sitemap is like the "table of contents" of a website. It contains all the links of the website and can be used for many purposes like page ordering, usability, site structure, and search engine crawling. It's wise to use a sitemap if your site is extremely large or contains a complex hierarchy of links. Having a sitemap allows users and search engines to avoid complex link structures and scan through your sites pages easily and thoroughly.

SMIL is a markup language that is strikingly similar to HTML. The purpose of synchronized multimedia integration language is so that video, audio, graphics, and text can be synchronized with web based applications. As the multimedia generation continues to use develop through the internet, you will see an increase in these types of languages.

Spam, Spammers, Spambots 
Spam is unsolicited email that is usually sent out by a spammer(s) computer then sent out to thousands if not millions of emails users throughout the world. There are better techniques now available to webmasters to eliminate comment spam which was on the rise in 2006. Proprietary web design tools and software like Microsoft and Flash has been instrumental to eliminating the ability for spammers to use code for both harvesting emails and automated submission by Spambots.

Status Bar 
The status bar is the empty space at the bottom of the browser that shows a hyperlink when you rollover a web page link. Developers have the ability to hide this function through JavaScript or Flash development.

Streaming, Streaming Media 
Streaming is the ability to play media files before having to wait for the entire song or video to fully download. Flash, RealAudio, RealVideo, and Quicktime are major break through in streaming media by allowing images and video to be displayed before the entire file has been loaded; resulting a faster output and avoiding slow download.
